Post Chaos - my new Postie quilt and my most recent finish (which makes Post Malone quilt Number 6, what can I say??! He’s become my muse!)

This quilt I designed at the beginning of the year when I was full of life and had big dreams and then, as you may be able to tell, it turned pretty dark, much like my 2024 😩😂

Rather than just let the darkness be filled with black, I reached out to @accuquilt as I figured out their 6” Qube would fit perfectly into my medium sized pixel quilts.

And when those dies arrived I sifted through the 170 free block pattern that come with it and picked 10-15 that I wanted to focus on.

I LOVE that I can use the negative space in my quilts and add some detail with quilt blocks so easily now.

I still opted for dark fabrics for all these blocks in an effort to tone them into the background.

When he was done I quilted him with straight stitches on my longarm, removed him, turned him 45 degrees, put it back on the longarm and set about doing more straight lines. I love the effect.

After he was all finished I acquired some black organza butterflies and free motion quilted on top of them to give them some more depth and they are now scattered across the quilt. The butterflies were added to represent transformation and growth and that huge moth, made by @spiderstitches which is just phenomenal, is there to represent getting through the darkness and looking for the light….all of which sums up my 2024 so far.

I’ve brought this quilt to #houstonquiltfestival with me and he will be available to be seen in the @accuquilt booth (1835) on the first day of the show (Thursday) and at the preview night Weds night. I feel like the addition of traditional quilt blocks into my quilts using the Qube has just opened up a whole new avenue for me.
