about dee

Dee is the driving force behind Pixel Quilts, an idea she dreamed up after realising how much she loved the process of creating this particular type of quilt.

A self taught quilter of 17 years and a background in Marketing and Design, Dee made her first pixel quilt in 2008, a Super Mario quilt for her nephew:

After spending the next 14 years learning techniques of quilting and trying her hand at many a pattern, Dee settled on Pixel Quilts as her favourite process.

"There is something about the whole process of Pixel Quilts that I love. From the dreaming up of the project and then the designing of the quilt and putting it together, it enables me to use my creativity to produce something striking, which is visually very different from the norm."

In 2021 Dee had been speaking to her daughter about making a banner that they could take to a Billie Eilish concert (Dee's daughter Maddy is a huge fan) Dee realised that a pixel quilt of Billies album cover could be quite eye-catching, so she set about planning it. From the idea of a small banner, a very large quilt grew and Dee was hooked on the process.

Dee enjoys sharing her quilts and the process of creating them on her social media and is looking forward to using 2022 to create pixel quilts of the women who have inspired her.

Dee is married to Jason and they have two teenage children, a cat called Kimmie, a pug called Bella and a foster-pug named Winky.

A Brit by nationality, Dee now lives with her family in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
