FAQ

UPDATE! I AM CURRENTLY TESTING NEW SOFTWARE, PLEASE FOLLOW ME ON SOCIAL MEDIA FOR FURTHER INFORMATION

Do you have an online tutorial of how you make pixel quilts?

I am just re-writing this section of the website as I am testing a brand new software that I will be working with. I am hoping that by end of Dec, I will be able to shout about this amazing collaboration and launch it out to you all! Keep an eye on my social media for more information.

Do you offer virtual Quilt Guild Presentations?

Yes! My zoom presentations are approximately 1 hour plus questions and cover my journey of my first quilt back in 2006 through to today. I talk about the design process, applications and options available to make your own pixel quilts and the highs and lows of all those options. I do a small trunk show of my most popular quilts and answer any questions you may have.

What is your recommended quilting for pixel quilts?

Everything! For the longest time I thought digitized designs would be too busy and detract from a pixel quilt of a face, but having now had a few quilts quilted with digitized designs, I actually love this type of quilting. I also love stippling, straight line quilting and graffiti quilting - so it would appear anything goes with pixel quilts!

What color thread do you use for your quilting?

I generally use a color which blends in best with the colors in the quilt and I have never been disappointed with this.

How do you choose a picture to use for a pixel quilt?

An image that will work best is one that is clear, high resolution and free from harsh shadows or lighting. Shadows are not your friend when it comes to pixel quilts and they will 'muddy' the look of your image. The better the resolution, the better the outcome.

Do you offer online talks to quilt guilds/groups?

Do you take on commissions?

No, sorry 2022 is my year to learn and grow in this technique.
